More than half of us abandon reading beyond the first sentence. So if you are you still with me, I’ll carry on. Here are three ways to draw an audience into your narrative.

Topical: Only five years ago, there were more CEOs called John than female CEOs in entire the Fortune 500.

Surprising: More people own a mobile phone than a toothbrush…

Human interest (founder’s story): Sometimes, the smallest spark can ignite a wave of change…

Other examples include intrigue, humour, shock, daring, reflective, curious, provocative, inspiring and mysterious. Just make sure your audience is heart-and-centre of your thinking when you craft your next intro.
